I'm looking into optimizing my forum at the moment and i have come across some interesting mods/hacks.

VBSEO seem to be the main force in SEO circles however they charge for their technology. $149 to be exact, which seems rather expensive, especially when you consider that is there are a tonne of free alternatives out there.

I installed the free vBSEO Google / Yahoo Sitemap this evening and it seems to be a strong product.

I have tried doing some mod rewrite based mods so that i can change the showthread.php?t=117102&highlight=vbranking url's into some thing more pleasent. None of the mods worked so I presume i have rewrite access denied by my host. Most sort that out.

Other modifications that i came across include:
Add Search Engine Optimized (SEO) Keywords & Description to each Forum
vRewrite - SEOed URLs for vBulletin
vbRanking revised

I also came across a really good RSS feed mod that is in use @ http://www.phpit.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3
I've googled for that one but i can't find the mod. If anyone knows where to find it then please let me know

I used a few of the free mods on this forum and on the Irish ISP Test one

For RSS - what are you trying to do exactly?

I'm trying to trackdown an RSS mod that will create a "News Bot" who in turn will automatically create new threads in a specified forum based on RSS feeds that he has subscribed too.

I've seen it used on phpit.net. It's pretty handy. It's basically like a Vbulletin Version of MagpieRSS.

Michele, i remember seeing an RSS feature that you had on your support forum for Blacknight a few months ago. You seem to have removed it now but it was pretty neat. The one i'm referring to is a mod which allows an RSS feed URL appear in the "user info" area when they post. The area between your username and icons for IM clients in other words.

Why did you remove it and do you recall from where you got it?

I never even noticed it!
I found it this morning on VBulletin.org. Does it come with any usergroup permissons? Is it free for everyone or can you limit it's availabilty to a single usergroup?

You could probably limit it to certain usergroups, though I'm not sure how off the top of my head.
If you could limit access to the profile option to a usergroup - which I think you can do, then you probably can achieve it

I found that mod for creating an RSS Bot this morning too
