Hi All, I just wanted to share some SEO success with you all. On Monday evening I created a web page that is all about learning the Binary number system - that is converting 1100111's etc to decimal and vice versa. ( http://www.memorymentor.com/learn_bu...ber_system.htm) The good news is that it was up and indexed in Google within 24hrs. The best part is that I optimised it for the phrase - learn the binary number system. Now these wasnt a phrase I plucked out of the air. I used KEI to get this and figure around 100 visitors a month will come in from this phrase alone. learn binary number system - Google Search= Also I tried Converting Binary Numbers and come in a little further down page two: converting binary numbers - Google Search= Where am I going with this thread? The use of KEI is something I never really gave much weight to. I am now a firm believer in wanting to be a big fish in a small pond rather than a small fish in a big pond when optimising my webpages for visitors. I have several other pages I have also applied this principle to, all from KEI: negotiate a pay rise - Google Search (third down - and it's the index page rather than the page itself - the all important index page) Page description and page title are important too, as well as content. I will put something together about the title page soon. hint: use allintitle in google when looking to optimise! Kevin

I could start a site tomorrow aimed at learning the binary system and get good rankings in a few days. Bottom line is there is hardly no competition, so any one could jump in and do this. But are you actually getting any good traffic yet?

That's the beauty of using KEI - rather than compete with 100k websites about widgets, I am using KEI to find a smaller number of visitors who are looking solely for cornflower-blue widgets. That way there are far fewer competing websites - and rather than sticking my fishing pole into the ocean trying to catch a fish, I am using a bucket in the garden pond brimming with fish (forgive the analogy!). I guess what you are saying is why not compete for widgets along with everyone else and get to the top of the SERPs? Well for starters a small/medium business looking to get rankings asap would benefit using the method I described, they might not have enough time to wait to compete with the big guys/more established sites and this way they are getting their targetted visitors as quickly as possible. For me it's all about targetted visitors rather than any visitors. I want people who are interested in learning the binary number system rather than people who want to know what is binary... there are plenty of sites out there that can do that As for the stats - I have edited out the others but here is a graph of the number of visitors since Monday- note the Entry numbers ![]() Cheers, Kevin Last edited by koconnor; 12-03-2008 at 05:29 PM.
