| For the life of me I cant figure this one out and cant seem to get a straight answer. The Google results for my blogs show the description snippet with the date of the post, my name and the category but then one line of the actual post. My question is how can I get Google to display the description as the Optional Excerpt or the first couple of lines of the actual post? Is there a plugin for this? |

| The only way I could imagine is to somehow make the first couple of lines the first text to appear in the markup. Then you are into trying to position things via CSS or something (unless you are happy to have that info after your post?). The excerpt only appears on your homepage so unless you want to start cloaking to Google I think you have a tough one there.

| Cheers. I think I have seen a plugin before to move the markup of the dates etc to appear after the post, I'll look into that further. So you didnt do anything special to yours? Looking at the index of your pages the Google snippets for your posts are perfect. |

| Have you tried looking at the meta content? Or is Google using the RSS?

| Yeah one blog has every post with the same description so it looks a mess. I deleted the meta description for the blog in my profile so it wouldnt create the same mess as my previous blog. Is there a way to have Google pull from the RSS? I am guessing thats where the Optional Excerpt could come in really handy, if it gets used as the description. |

| The only other thig I can think of is some semantic structure but I cant remember if I did anything special with the markup I'll take a look and let you know. Nope - just default WP markup from the looks of things Last edited by RedCardinal; 29-09-2006 at 06:16 PM. |
