Without a context it's a bit hard to answer you.

Do you have to leave the link as part of the software license?

you don't need to leave it as far as I know ... I'd personally remove it (have a look through the license / forums first to make sure you're allowed to)

I'd leave it in then traffic good and it won't exactly hurt having a small link there.

Hi googlebomber76,

There is a reason (and benefit) to leave the Zen Cart Copyright and link at the bottom of your store; as stated on the Zen Cart site:

Quote:
Copyright © 200X Zen Cart covers the design and graphics in the templates. If you are using a stock template with the included graphics you must leave the copyright. If you make a custom template and use your own graphics you may change the copyright.
For many of our clients who we produce unique template designs for it means that the Coprright can be removed. HOWEVER, we always recommended that it is kept on as it also allows their store to be added to the Zen Cart showcase which is good for linking and even leads towards sales:

Quote:
Shops that wish to be listed in the Zen Showcase must leave Powered by Zen Cart in the footer for identification. Leaving the Powered by Zen Cart is advantageous to both you and Zen Cart because a relevant reciprocal link can help you with search engine rankings. In the event you do not wish to be listed in the Zen Showcase, Powered by Zen Cart may be removed, but it may not be changed.
I hope that helps

Regards

Jamie @JSWeb
