Ranking Quickly?

We launched a separate site for our VPS hosting (VPS hosting - virtuozzo parallels debian centos windows 2003) about two months ago, but it's not doing very well in SERPS

What I keep finding is that our blog (Blacknight Blog) or even our knowledgebase do better than the actual site where we sell the products

It's very frustrating

Has anyone got any tips for ranking quickly on certain key phrases? I know it's a crazy query, but I'm plucking at straws at this stage

Something odd is up. Loads of backlinks detected here Backlink Checker but very few via Google link:http://www.blacknightvps.com - Google Search

The site is very well crawled too, 85 indexed pages and GB has been sniffing about recently.

Not too sure what the problem is to be honest. What keywords are you trying to rank for?

The obvious ones at the moment

Things like "vps hosting" etc., ie. nothing that bizarre or outlandish (at least in my mind!)

Michele is there a reason why you have it on a separate domain ?

We didn't have much choice

The main site carries all the info on our shared hosting and we had hoped to be able to relaunch that first or at the same time as the VPS hosting, but we ran into technical issues. So our choice was quite simple:

wait for the issues to get sorted out and lose money
launch the vps stuff on a separate site and not lose as much money

You can guess which option won out

I'd say its perfectly normal for your other domain to be ranking higher as it has the age trust with Google it would also have a lot more quality links coming in which includes links to the blog from the VPS site.

Cormac Google will never show how many backlinks a site actually has unless you have access to the owners Google Webmaster Account. I see there is no XML sitemap on the site. Have you considered attaching it to the webmaster account Michele?

You need to be careful on how fast you want to get a site to rank, 1 wrong step and you could see a filter in action.

I'm seeing you sitting at number 21 for VPS hosting in Ireland. I would suggest getting some more quality links and using the anchor keywords you want to rank for.

when was the last time the domain was spidered (google webmaster) ? There are also some errors on the site.

Maybe change the robots.txt to
User-agent: *
Disallow:

Do you have a sitemap for the site ?

Reg the domain for 10 years.

Pay for a Yahoo! and Business.com listing.

Submit product pages to digg.com

Get a DMOZ listing. (There are ALWAYS ways).

Build more authority.

New domains are getting harder and harder to rank and are spending a LOT longer than 3 months in the "sandbox".

Throw a link into the footer of this site.

I'll send you a list of long tails later.

where is the index page description pulled from?
www . com, net, org, biz, info, name, tv, eu, co.uk, org.uk, me.uk. Money Back Guarantee. VPS Hosting. E-mail, personal sites, basic business sites, ...
I could not find it in the source code
