Default Website after disappearing from Google

I was hoping someone could help me.

I created a new site for a client, now live on the web. Added it to Google etc and Google was picking it up. Up to a week ago I preformed a search for the company name (same as .ie url) and it appeared 4th in Google (Irish Version). I felt this is satisfactory. I have a sitemap set up, robots.txt file etc, all submitted to google.

However for the last week, the site has disappeard from Google when I search. I have no idea of the reason for this. Its seems that google is not indexing the homepage etc. I feel like I have done something wrong or being punished for something, but what?? I'd appreciate if I could get advice on this or could someone give me advice, help me out.

I would prefer not to publicise the URL of the site for the moment.

Get your website into Googles webmaster tools at http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools and see what it reports.

First place I would look is here:
www.google.com/webmasters/tools/

If Google have punished you or if you have violated their terms and conditions you will more than likely be sent a message here.

I recently had an issue with a wordpress blog that was exploited by a bot and spammed with keywords in the footer of the page. Google yanked it from the index as a result, but they did tell me in the Webmaster console.

If its not in there, not sure what it is without a link.

Thanks for the help. I checked Google Webmaster Tools but no message.

However over the last 24 hours the site has reappeared on the first page for the previous search term - really strange!

Something like that has happened to me before. I think Google gets hiccups sometimes, just keep an eye on the Webmaster Tools.
