Default My site has dissappeared

I'm a bit confused.

I had a top 10 ranking for about 5 months and was suprised when checking up recently (possible since the last update) to see that it had dropped out of the top 1000.

I have no warnings or anything in Google webmaster control panel and I'm in the index.

Perhaps google devalued a type of link I had a lot of or something, but to drop 1000 places still seemed odd.

Today I found something in the webmaster control panel where it tells you your ranking for key phrases and according to Google I sit at 11th for this particular phrase...

I have seen something similar a few month ago with a different site of mine that was usually top 5 for a phrase and that dissappeared for the phrase for a couple of weeks.

Has anyone experienced something like this before? It's annoying me and I can't work properly

What's your URL?

I've seen sites drop out of the index for no apparent reasons. I've also seen sites drop out as a result of penalties.

You could post over on the Google Webmaster Group for help also.

Rgds

James - I didn't dig too deep, because as soon as I find links like these alarm bells go off:

h++p://djembefola.com

That certainly could be mistaken for you buying links?

Might be completely unrelated, but given that you're also promoting you search marketing services (given the anchors I saw), I'm not going to dig any deeper.

Default Which links look dodgey?

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your time.

djembefola is my site.

Where do you think it looks dodgey, in my signature here on the forum?
Or do you mean the footer links on djembefola.com?

Would there be note in my webmaster control panel if I had been reported for buying links?

Not necessarily. They dont always send notification of penalties.

Those links have 'paid footprint' written all over them. It may also be that links you have, which previously helped you rank, are no longer passing value.

I see what you mean.

I'll try remove them and get a re-inclusion request if I don't here back from the news group.

My initial though was about old links not counting anymore, but I don't think that's the case this time...

You're very unlikely to get a response from Google, maybe from a group member.

Just file the reconsideration request. It may be purely algorithmic though... ranking may just reflect where google thinks you should be ranked.

Yea I'll do that.

The last time this happened to one of my sites it came back after a couple of weeks without me doing anything.

I don't think it was an algorithm change, a loss of weight to certain types of links etc because of the fact that it has fallen so far so fast without losing any "big" links.

Anyway it could be a million different things anyway, it just seems odd to me though

Thanks for your help and time Richard.
