    Default not consider irish anymore

The host Im with a the moment has its IP blocked register to ireland but actually their physical servers are in the states, up until recently my site appeared in the pages from ireland and also appeard to get a bit of a boost for google.ie searchs in general because it was based in lreland.

Something has changed and thus I reckon I'm going to switch hosts, the obvious choice is blacknight, but i don't actually know much about the company itself, michele whats your unique selling point? reliabity is like?

And most importantly your machines are phyiscally based in the republic right?

Rather than answer that directly I'd ask you to check out some of our clients and see why they use us. There are a few of them on here....

Yes. All of our shared hosting is physically located in Dublin.

    and here's one!

I've been using Blacknight for quite a few years now. I won't mention names but I was with a couple of others before that and found them overpriced and underprofessional.

I have had a few problems in my time with Blacknight. Most of them were my own fault. Every time I phone BK or mail them they are patient and very quick. A few times I have had problems that weren't directly related to my account, but they were just as helpful.

There was one case at the beginning of the year involving domain registrations [Michele will know what I am talking about ] where they went way above and beyond the call of duty.

    Couldn't recommend 'em highly enough.

I reckon that's worth a years free hosting Michele?

P.S. Forgot to mention - servers are in Dublin

I moved to Blacknight few years back, coming form a hosting company that used to do my t**ts in.
Got fed-up and looked around to find blacknight. Moved few websites at the start and based on the service i got and I have to say, brilliant, i have moved all the other website as well. Never looked back since and never even bother to shop around anymore.
The back-up service is outstanding, not very common for an Irish company, and I was never put on the long finger.
All issues has been dealt with professionally and got all my problems and demands sorted immediately. When I needed something, was just a phone call away or an email. Michele, Paul, Jimmy and there was another guy that is not there any-longer have been (and still are ) one of the best peoples to work with.

We have *some* servers in Amsterdam. Most of the clients who were using them have been moved back to our main network in Dublin

ALL of our shared hosting is in Dublin (apart from some legacy stuff overseas for SEO reasons)

You need to ftp all your files again after the transfer is done. You can only transfer the domain to another hosting company, the rest has to be done manually by ftp. Make sure you have a copy of all your files before beginning the transfer.

The accuracy of some of the IP lists that the SEs use varies considerably. Most of the simple IP lists are based on the delegated lists which do not generally carry subnets. So you could have an entire range in the delegated lists showing up as US but it might have various subnets that are allocated to other countries such as IE. But to the SEs using the simple list, all these are US IPs/sites.
