Default Installing ISAPI Rewrite

Just wondering, can it come pre-installed in some packages, and are there reasons a host would refuse to do so?

I haven't been able to get it on shared hosting. I have my own server over in blacknight now and just got a copy for myself. I meant to suggest it to Michele to install as standard but not sure if they do that kind of thing. Would be a nice selling point!

I think we have it installed on a few servers already... The only thing that I can't remember off the top of my head is if the server provider needs to do anything for the rewrites to work or if it's simply a matter of the user dropping in a config file

There's a new version (3) that supports htaccess files and they are the same rules as you would write on a linux server. Works in the same way!

So the end user just pops in a .htaccess and off they go?
