    Default Rotating Backup scripts

I came across this today : Mysql automatic backup script - AutoMySQLBackup which is very good for doing systematic back ups of MySQL DB's (user needs read & lock) permissions. So it does Daily/Weekly/Monthly backups.

So now I've found this, I am looking for something that will do something similar for files and directory structures. Any recommendations ? Again daily/weekly/monthly would be something I am after.

subversion ? (not backing up your files as such but...)

    I'm assuming a *nix based system ?

Would a simple copy script and cron not do the job for you ?

I think that subversion or CVS would be a bit of over kill, but could work.

Maybe I will just edit the script I posted, so that it just does a tar -xvfR /home/websites/
    and take it from there.
