| You can use the netcraft website I suppose. I usually cheat and use the HEAD command

| Thanks. Hosting company just replied saying it was a Linux platform. Any php files I upload don't work - browser tried to download them instead of actually viewing them. I'll follow up. Cheers |

| Not all hosting companies provide PHP support - I know that sounds nuts in 2006, but it's true

| I've seen that happen to some prominent websites.. It's even worse when they haven't locked down MySQL properly
