Smile First stab at ecommerce site

Hi.

I just finished developing my first ecommerce site, using zen cart. The product range is wee, for the time being but over the next few weeks hope to build it up.

Please check it out and let me know if there are any loose ends that need to be addressed. Especially interested in browser compatability and usability issues.

Tips on effective marketing would be most welcome aswell.

Thanks
T

It looks good. But why is the entire site hosted on terrassl.net? Shouldn't you just use that for the final checkout phase? That is certainly going to effect your SEO efforts.

The site design is clean and I really like it. You have obviously read up on the official most readable colours.

RE: Marketing, you should be aware that you are jumping into one of the toughest online industries there is.

Hi redfly,

thanks, was still using the hosts temporary paths, have fixed this now. The online service will complement the physical shop, so all our eggs aren't in the online basket yolk! oh god.

I guess google ads is the best way to try and drum up some business.

Hi Tomzp, Yes the site looks nice and clean to me.

From a marketing point of view you need to offer something of use to visitors to the site that they can download in exchange for their contact details. This will allow you to build up a list of potential prospects who you can keep updated as your range grows. Perhaps some kind of guide to alternative wholefoods or something.

Also to increase the sites stickiness and provide as much value to visitors as possible I would think about including a blog where you can post relevant articles or maybe more detailed product reviews. This will also provide valuable content that will help your search engine rankings.

Good luck with it,

Matt
