Default Doing it Doggie Style

Hi,

Just wondering if any of you would like to let me know what you think of Doggie Style Mobile Dog Washing & Grooming (Ireland).

It's a site my sister and I designed and developed with very little knowledge starting out. It's developed mainly in Flash.

Any constructive critism on design, content or functionality would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
The Doggie Style team

That is so weird, I was just talking to my girlfriend about your company (your name actually) yesterday and she loved the name too...

...Anywho I actually love the style of the site, the color and dare I say it, the tad bit home-made feel about it. My main changes would be to convert the site into html/css. There is no need to use flash for this type of site

Great design, looks great. Kudos if you actually did it yourself, kudos if you didn't :-)

Site looks great, but I'd say search engines would work better with a static html version too.

Thanks for all the comments so far - It's good to get some positive feedback.

To respond to some of the points - I knew a little bit of flash before I started so that's why I went with it - I know nothing about css. I did have a look at zen garden to try and find out but was a bit overwhelmed. The other reason for flash was to preserve the fonts that my sister had choosen.

Thanks for the kudos - I did do all the development myself

The playful style was intended to appeal to dog owners.

I did worry about the search engine thing but I read that google can look into flash for text but I have not seen them reference any of the flash pages. What I did was the home page checks if flash is installed and if it is not it displays a standard html page. I placed a lot of the relevant blurb on this home page and this is the one tha the search engines seem to pick up on. If you google 'Dog Grooming' from a location in Ireland we are the first groomers to appear. (I also have some adword campaigns going as well)

Thanks again and keep the comments coming

Regards

Yeah, few comments.

1. I have JS disabled by default. when I visit your page I just get the logo and some text. No scrollbar which means I have to maximise my browser window just to see the flash information at the bottom

2. Flash only?? have a html verison.

3. The page resize functionality i.e. page resizes based on height of the browser is SERIOUSLY annoying. I never have my browser maximised and at the moment your page is too small to read, I have to increase the height of my browser window.
it may sound like I am being awkward but personally I'd use the back or home button before resizing my browser window.

Few big problems to sort out in my opinion.

The actual design is decent, although if you're using shadows on the side columns i'd use it also on the header for consistency.
not mad about the darker green on the bottom.

Ya i agree with some of the points:
1. Colours and design of headers seems home made ish
2. the resize of the size is really weird.

How about have a html version that a browers can go to it js is turned off? Or just keep it to html
