Default New MyHome.ie design?

Not sure if this goes in here as it's not my site, but what does eveyone think of the new MyHome.ie design that was launched today?

I have to say I'm not a fan at all. I think it's a serious downgrade. One of the main reasons for this is that there is no boundary between any of the elements. It's so busy and everything just flows together. I can't make out anything.

Obviously I'm biased running a (far less successful) property portal but I don't think it's too good either. Mind you, I'm not so sure if it's not an improvement as I thought the last one was atrocious and at least they've made some effort to implement standards this time around.

Although I have to say, their quick search panel on the homepage looks a lot like mine. And the way they're displaying their listings now (run a search), including refine bar, isn't too dissimilar to mine either.

Maybe I'm just imagining things.

No, you're not, it is actually very similar! Your site is an example of what I would expect... everything is 'defined'. Even if it's just a small keyline it helps to differentiate blocks of information.

I just took another look at myhome and in fairness there are some very faint borders/keylines around the blocks but I can't see them without really looking hard.

EDIT: I like the 'Site Statement' link down in the footer... Under Site Navigation it says "To move backwards in the navigation press the TAB key with the TAB key". Must be one of those magic keyboards

there's no definition in the site at all, it resembles a page whose tags have been screwed up and everything has become mis-aligned...imho anyway

Exactly, and I have to say after spending the last 10 mins browsing the search results it's full of character errors...

Had a look at it and to be honest I didn't know where to start...
Everything seems to be all over the place for some reason and there is no coordination at all.
What the **** were they thinking?
At least they got the banner in the right position. lol

It's crazy to think that the site was bought for €50 million. Why not budget for a decent production team to manage it all in-house?

That could be because a decent web developer will have his own business instead of getting orders from some "you know who" person.

Sorry, I should have made myself more clear. When I say a decent production team, I mean a strong developer, strong designer, strong on-line strategist, etc. who are fairly senior and paid an extremely good salary. I don't mean someone that's good, paid crap money, demoralised and treated like a b*tch by non-Web people within the company. But hey, this is Ireland and this is the Web industry - that's why sensible initiatives like this don't happen.

I love to see you working for some business - lol.
You'll probably end-up killing someone.
