Default What are my chances?

Hi folks,

I've been tapping away at a site called Dublinbynumbers.com. I'm really a complete amateur when it comes to web development/design and I hired some guy to do most of the programming for me (one of the main factors for selecting him was that his birthday was on the same date as mine, probably not a very professional method of selection I imagine!). Anyway I thought I'd finally summon the courage to ask what some real web people thought....

What do you think of the site in general and what do you think are my chances of my the site surviving/getting used? I've just seen an ad for yourlocal.ie and I imagine their budget is a zillion times mine (although I made my own personal record of $2.90 on Google Adsense today, which I imagine will go a long way!). The site is really still being developed as I go along (it has pretty limited content), but I thought I'd have it fully finished before the summer.

Cheers

Hmm... its quite nice

a bit heavy on the text though ... a few more icons / images could liven it up a bit

You also have 32 code warnings ... but they are minor things and hopefully easily fixed.

Do you also want to have RTE news on all your pages ? seems a bit overkill especially on the contact page where you end up with a huge white area bottom right.

To be honest I think it's much better than the yourlocal.ie site. Don't know what they're up to promoting a site that doesnt really look that finished?

Hey andy nice looking site - I was saying a few months ago that tere was loads of room in the Irish market for a few more directories...

My one thought is the rte news and is there really any benefit to you having it there?

Also if you want to add it to this list List of Irish Web Directories | DeadFly SEO

Thanks folks, all good points. Although I do have a soft spot for the RTE feed, maybe your right and the white space is a bit OTT.

Now I think about it I don't have a web design category. If anyone wants to fill out the get listed form or contact me I'll add a "Web Design" category.

Cheers
