Question Smarket.ie Feedback Request

Smarket.ie

Hi all,

I am bringing a new site online to Ireland in the coming weeks,
I have almost all the testing done,

I would like to ask for some feedback on the site, design, user interface, really on all aspects of it.

we've made the site to be as user friendly as possible,

the site is a "on-line auction market place"

all feedback both good and bad welcomed Smarket.ie

Thanks for your help

....Sean....

hopefully you're going changing the server its on .. feels very slow (might just be my connection of course)

non SEO friendly urls won't help

not too keen on your logo .. seems a bit thrown together (sorry if you've spent a lot of time on it the gravel is quite nice .. the lettering is tricky)

Seems like a good enough design, unlike Forbairt i think the logo is ok, not great but ok.

I feel that I have to point out that since you'll be competing with the likes of eBay and Amazon, the prior also owning PayPal which is possibly the no.1 payment gateway in the world, that I don't really think this will take off?

Without a massive technical/support team and masses of advertising behind the project it doesn't really have a hope of competing with the other online marketplaces out there.

Sorry if it seems harsh but that's the way I see it.

Hi Sean,

I like the site, I think it's got potential, The logo is fine, I would change the S at the start it looks like an after thought, just put a normal s there to match the rest and you'll be fine.....the logo is the least of your worries at this stage....

I had a look around the site but did not register, why beacuse I would be no better off using smarket than ebay, You both offer payment through paypal (who I hate and can't wait to leave once I start generating enough business) You both take comission on the sale price, ebay is a rip but unless your generating enough traffic and business for sellers I can't see an incentive for them to list there products on smarket..

Mabye until you generate enough content for your site you should make it free for sellers to list, without them you may as well give up....but don't give up, keep plugging away...

A lot of sellers are very unhappy with ebay and somebody is going to be next Pierre Omidyar you've just got to make sure it's you, get the Irish Side of things up and running like clockwork, then go global...

Take my advice on the free listings and no commsions until your a bit more established, as an ex ebay power seller your going to have to prove to me smarket is a viable option, once you do that i'd be more than willing to pay fees...

best of luck, keep the head up, persistance will get you everwhere

Sean I decided to register and maybe list a 1 or 2 items on your site and see what happens, registration worked fine, then as I went to sell an item I came across this:

You Can Not Sell Any Item, Because Your Credit is Less Then 10 Smarket Credits

You want me to pay you €5 before I can list an item and I still have no idea what final vale fees your charging or if my items will even sell,
you've really got to go back to the drawing board and look at your seller policy and pricing structure, I can tell you hear and now there's not a chance of me paying €5 to list on your site at the moment...

Sort it out and you could be on a winner....

Thanks for all the feedback, just to answer some of the points...

We are taking the fee's off the site soon they were there for testing, I should have said that in my first post.

the site we be free for all users shortly and we are also looking at different payment metheds, so we can offer more then one way for the buyer to pay the seller...

also thanks for all your views on the logo.... This is something that will be looked at in time but right now it is only a small thing.....

thanks again for the feedback.. and I'd love to hear more
