hi guys

Irelands eye Photography

we're just about to launch this site in conjunction with my off shore development team - i'd like to take the credit but unfortunately i'm not a coder or designer, (i just take on the work and farm it out at the right price) - and just wondered what the experts think.

please also feel free to compare with other photography sites you may know.

The site isnt intended to sell photographs yet - this will come later with a full e-commerce structure where buyers will be able to choose frames, borders etc - at present it is an on-line brochure which will contain probably about 20,000 pictures and by next year will include 10 of Ireland's best photographers.

It's commercial prospect at the moment is for galleries in teh states to book an event when Irelands Eye will take the gallery over to sell photos.

Get rid of the splash page.

if you are displaying images, you should make sure that they are displayed at the size you have the file. i.e. some places you have overly large images when they are not needed all it will do is waste peoples time in downloading larger images.

if you don't dump the splash page put "skip intro" at the top of the page.

You've got new browser windows opening in some galleries - before I knew it I had a dozen tabs in my firefox browser.

Also links from Influences & Equipment are showing "sample text" - you shouldn't really launch a site without these areas completed.

The movie on the home should have a nice alpha effect where the images fade into each other as apposed to the SLAM effect of one into the other! I'd slow down the slideshow also...

The photography work itself is really quite good - the site could just do with a polish.

Like the web site especially the black and white. Don't like the splash page. Just annoys people.

I like this site a lot. B&W Photography is a favourite topic and I found the biography interesting. Here's looking forward to learning more as the site progresses.

Nice clean and simple site. You may want to add some meta tags and vary your pages title to help you regarding SEO . One thing that annoys me on the site is how the images open in a new tab/page.
