Default CompanyHotSeat.com - Version 2.0

Hey All,

Its been a while since I have been on the forum, its growing nicely!!!

Just launched Version 2.0 of CompanyHotSeat.com.

The new site is fully Joomla Powered which is great. Recommend Joomla highly. Takes a while to customise but the CMS back end is fantastic. After a while you get sick of writing and debugging code!

The address is CompanyHotSeat.com - The Free Irish Business Directory

Be gentle on the reviews!

Regards

James

ok ... my review ...

Its slightly ouch ... but I don't think it'd take that much to tidy it up ... some image padding / margins .. would do wonders ...

remove the joomla favicon as well .. I HATE the joomla favicon .. (not sorry for the caps )

I'd also recommend that you don't hotlink images in your css (sorry thats a complete no no)
Code:
background: url(http://openid.net/login-bg.gif) no-repeat;
that said maybe I'm missing something to do with the openid.net on the site ...

personally I really don't like Joomla these days ... after spending too much time f'ing around with it .. I found a lot of very basic things were missing from it ... but ah well (I've posted about that before and as was said there are some great plugins ... which I can't argue with)

companyhotseat@gmail ??? erm ... could I recommend google apps ? change you mx records if you're set on using gmail for it ...

Your logo / header image ... hmm... seeing that I would leave the site almost immediately ... head over to 99 designs .. and you could get something half way decent maybe for 50 - 100 quid ... if you're stuck for cash ...

Just a few thoughts on it .. take from them what you will ... I didn't delve any further into the site ... I'm on the beer ... second last day in galway .. and the missus just had her last day of work here

A new template for starters the default joomla template just does not do it for me ,theres a lot of Free templates out on the web , or for a few bob you might pick up some more suitable.

The Joomla favicon looks amateurish

Does it matter if the software running the site is GPL or not?

Default Favicon

Fixed the favicon! Good tip thanks for that.. Took me while and a bit of messing around putting the file in different folders but finally got it.

U mean the standard GPL link at bottom. You think I should leave it or delete?

The front page seems fairly dense with text. Can you reduce / summaries some of it and then link to the full article/ explanation of it perhaps.

Also, I wound redo the text on your header logo 'company hotseat'. Just use a higher resolution image or anti-analise the fonts to remove the pixel look.
