The real problem is the site is hosted in the US ... and well ... I'm not sure how many people you have coming from the US to study english ... but I'd assume not that many ... and not that many spanish only speaking ones coming from there either ? Edit: I should add hosting in Ireland will cost you what 30 - 40 quid for the year ... If ye can't afford to spend that ... then .. EEK!

yeah...he suddenly seems to understand what i mean now. after saying that there are people reviewing the site and they also say the load time will be slower because we are hosted in the US. but hopefully light at the end of the tunnel

| ok boss asked an interesting question. "do the bots operate from the states?if so would be better to have a host there or find out where they do it from and get a host there" feedback? he is very bot mind setted. but its a good question...where do the bots spider from? I assume because there are Google headquarters everywhere they spider from everywhere? but regarding the load time. ug my brain. its slow for people searching anywhere BUT the US because we are hosted in the US. We mainly target Europe. So where would the best place to get a host be then? Most of our traffic does come from Ireland though. so Ireland does seem like the best choice. Its a lot closer than the US too. I'm just curious about where the bots spider from now...and if that has its own effect on the load time at all? and how do they know the load time is slow? or is it more for the people going to the site. no because i know you get penalised for slow load time. how do the spiders know there is a slow load time!? | for the most part I would assume bots don't care too much about load time give or take a few ms's. Users however do care about load times. What the bots will care about is seeing where the server your site is on is located. If its in the US obviously its a US site no ? Its friday ... its been a busy week ... I'm tired and I'm grumpy .... Your boss is sounding more and more like a know it all muppet. For the most part advice given on here is by users experienced in their field. |

Web hosting Ireland, hosting ireland / irish web site hosting Ireland / domain registration, dedicated servers, colocation - Blacknight Solutions: Blacknight Solutions is a good hosting company in Ireland? Read a few good things on this site about them. how difficult is it to change hosts? we will still have another site hosted with our current US host. will we be able to keep our domain? do we have to re-register it? wont that affect the age of our site for google? I've never done this. Feedback would be great.

Who is your domain with ? 1: The usual process is you get hosting with your new provider 2: Set up your site there ... 3: initiate a domain transfer (through blacknight if you're using them) 4: respond to the verification email that the domain holder receives) 5: Other crowd will go ok ... and it'll go over to blacknight DNS propagation could take up to 48 hours ... but so long as you've got it in both places you should be fine. Email is another matter but you've not mentioned that.

i REALLY don't know anything about this. i know our server (is the terminology correct?) is with Lunarpages...I'm assuming therefore that our domain is with them. The techy we have doesnt speak such good English, I did ask him and he said the same thing. Lunar pages. as for email...the boss uses his gmail account to correspond with customers etc.
