I have just launched my first site.

I had help from a PHP coder who was a little familiar with SEO friendly coding, so it should be an improvement from the previous site. Bear in mind that I do not know how to code in PHP.

Besides the obvious that the images make the page load time very slow...are there any other criticisms or other feedback you could give me?

There are some things I HAD to do according to the way my boss wanted that aren't very SEO friendly ie the image title tags. I'm working on that.

But...feedback please!!!

You should look into mod_rewrite for your urls

The Irish flag ... doesn't say English Language to me ...

I'm really not loving all the photos all around the place they are quite distracting

To sum up my thoughts ... its just not .. polished you've got the info there but its a bit all over the place

On a different note ... your blog is quite ok

Visually it's very messy. You've got motion on both the right and the left of the screen which is distracting.

The Irish flag is not synonymous with the English language

The site is quite slow, possibly because you're hosting in the US, which for a .com is probably not the wisest of moves from an SEO perspective

You should get someone to check your translated versions of the site. The Spanish version has lots of errors, as does the Italian.

There are errors with the English text, which for an English language school is completely unacceptable eg:
You don't specify if the school is accredited / recognised by any of the TEFL / EFL / TESOL organisations

I'm very much a n00b.

The thoughts of the photos being distracting are in the same line as mine as well. My boss wants to put photos of Dublin and Ireland up there so that ...well...I guess so that people can see the good part of Dublin and Ireland. I'm trying to get him to go with less photos though, or at least more photos that are promoting the school and not Dublin. But yes I think less would be better.

I agree about the motion and the Irish flag.

About being hosted in the US, how will that affect SEO? Because we are an Irish site being hosted in the US? My boss was very adamant that hosting in the US seems like a better idea.

I am looking for people to translate the site again because some of the content has changed, so that will be done too.

As for the English...I'm still trying to get my boss to have a look at it, but I reckon I'm going to make the obvious error corrections myself because its not getting done.

I had a thought last night too.

Are there too many links to the rest of the pages in every site? Would it make a difference to the bots I mean. Or is more better? Surely there is a line to be drawn....and there are links in the copy too.

Would it be be beneficial to make the links at the bottom of the page nofollow? Excluding the Info/links and sitemap of course.

Your boss needs to get a clue.

If you are selling TEFL courses in Ireland you should be hosted in Ireland especially if you are using a .com

And OHHHH right @ the rewriting thing. Yeah I know that needs to be done too. The coders we have are here for work experience so they keep changing and have to get acquainted with the site, so I'm going to wait for that because I know its going to be a hassle. OK I don't know, but I suspect.
