Thread: New Job Skills Directory

Hi,

Can you please review my new site, skillsforthejob.com. It's a basic directory that people can use to register their job skills, upload CV details etc.

All feed-back, good or bad is very welcome and thanks for taking the time to look at the site !

Nice site - well done. Now you need traffic for the ads. Not sure how you will make money from one ad but I could be wrong (cries from forum you are USUALLY wrong !!)

Tried to register with garbage details (he he) and good to see e-mail check in there.

Your top left log is meant to go to home I presume but it is currently set for the current page which I assume is not what you want. Other than that not 2 bad.

Thanks for the review. I've a couple things to sort out. In terms of monitizing, I want it to be free for the moment.

Try and build up some traffic then I'll consider using adsense or something along those lines.

I dont like the way it displays that guys name Paul Murphy,&nbspDublin

The idea that a DOB, telephone & email address is potentially available would raise some data protection concerns for me

At the end of this page http://skillsforthejob.com/sitemap.htm a number of links at the bottom are dead, about us, terms, links

" Please separate each of your 'skills' with a carriage return."

I'd say please separate each of your skills by pressing enter or a separate box for each skill, some people might not know what a carriage return is

Thanks very much for the feedback. I've fixed the dead links on the footer of that page.

In relation to the telephone and DOB, none of this information in mandatory, so I guess you can just leave it out, however, this is not clear from the registration page, so I'll put a note in to indicate that only the e-mail address and your name are mandatory.
