    Hi Folks,

We recently launched a vertical search engine for training courses called learnpipe. Our aim is to make it much, much easier to find training courses.

We are constantly working to get more and more vendors on board. The more vendors, the better our results. We currently have 800 active vendors.

Site development is ongoing. We have loads of new features in the pipeline.

I would appreciate your feedback on what we have developed to date.

    thanks and regards, John

    Nice idea.

More design based feedback from me really,

1: Not too sure about the black trim in the logo. I don't think it goes well with the colors used

2: Tag Cloud could maybe use tags of different sizes to differneciate when one starts and another ends rather than them all being the same size. Oh wait now it's after changing after I did a search. What happened there?

    Rest looks good. Nice one

    Hi Donagh,

Thanks for your feedback - genuinely appreciated. With regards to the tag cloud, it is randomly generated from the tags / keywords on learnpipe. The font size / format should vary between tags. However, I noticed that the cloud sometime appears in all upper case. Not good. We're addressing now.

BTW - the tag cloud should change every time the index page is refreshed.

re. the logo....hmmm...I'll have to think about this one. The feedback has been very positive on the logo to date.

thanks again. all the best, john

Excellent idea. Like the simple search engine uncluttered layout and the font changing is funky without

being intrusive (did I just type funky I never use that word :-)

I searched around it myself and found some interesting options.

Nice to see that the site is structured with all the right links and layout.

http://www.learnpipe.com/sponsor/sponsorLinks.htm gives a 404 for me. I read you are working on it but put up a message. Might put up a sponsored link myself.

If I was being picky I would make the learnpipe logo on landing page a fraction bigger - Google Logo size perhaps. They know what works so I would model on that. I would also move the search box up further on the first page so it is at eye level of the person who lands there. Very picky I know.

Best of luck with it - I will be watching for it. Just tweeted it out as well to the Twitterverse as I think people will find it useful

    Hi Kieran,

Thanks a mil for your feedback and the tweet. Good point re. the size of the logo and positioning of the search box. We're working on a multi-domain strategy for the site (learnpipe.ie, learnpipe.co.uk) at the moment. We will likely need a little more space on the index page...so pushing up the search bar could be a good solution.

Re. 404 error - we disabled our ad server recently as we're not really trying to sell ads. Need to fix this. You have me thinking...will re-instate the ad server and do contras with web sites that embed our search widget (an ad for an ad). Anyone interested?

BTW - We're based just up the road from you...in Rochestown. We should hook up for a coffee sometime.

    later, John
