mines square I think size does not matter its the ratio thats important.

I think you can crop your image and make it of the size that you want and turn it into a rather small size picture which will be perfect for the yoru profile picture.

Before you get too excited, know that the increase is going from 604 pixels to 720 pixels. Facebook is also changing the size of profile pictures. In the next few weeks profile pictures will move to 180×540 pixels, this is down from 200×600. Profile pictures will now be smaller. Again, developers, adjust your applications accordingly.
