Maybe back before the bubble burst. I can tell you now though that most of the more well known Web design and development companies in Ireland are small, under-resourced, two-bit efforts working out of basements!

Well yes, these are big companies but they're not Web development companies. RTE, to the best of my knowledge, have taken their website in-house with some of the work outsourced.

Yeah, I completely agree in principal. That's how the ideal Web agency would be run. I can assure you now though that there simply isn't the work in Ireland to justify having a load of specialists on the books. You could outsource a lot of the IA,
SEO, etc. of course. Besides, most Irish clients aren't willing to pay extra for those services and are largely ignorant as to their benefits (and the benefits of doing business online in fact)
