I don't know about that. I seem to remember when I lived in Dublin, their were lots of big companies, I account managed some of them when I worked with eircom, these guys where bringing in big contracts at the time for 40k for a site. Which I thought was crazy money. There is lots of big companies in Ireland and some of the sites are **** TBH, however its seems that the 3 year turn around for a site make over has arrived with the redesign of RTE and AIB, to name a few.

In my opinion if you want to get the big contracts you cant be a one or two man shop, clients want more now than ever with all the changes that are going on with the web, one service we added was IA this allowed us to better plan websites and get them through Dev quicker.

Maybe back before the bubble burst. I can tell you now though that most of the more well known Web design and development companies in Ireland are small, under-resourced, two-bit efforts working out of basements!

Well yes, these are big companies but they're not Web development companies. RTE, to the best of my knowledge, have taken their website in-house with some of the work outsourced.

Yeah, I completely agree in principal. That's how the ideal Web agency would be run. I can assure you now though that there simply isn't the work in Ireland to justify having a load of specialists on the books. You could outsource a lot of the IA, SEO, etc. of course. Besides, most Irish clients aren't willing to pay extra for those services and are largely ignorant as to their benefits (and the benefits of doing business online in fact)
