Hey,
the list has some great ideas, and puts together how many ways are there to get clients!
I think it depends in what you are good at, do you mind to talk to people, chat them up at business-meetings, what about talking in front of a group, or more the real life or virtual networking, writing articles...
I started my agency 5 years ago after 5 years in business. I never went for "full-service" but had a narrow focus on internet-marketing and usability - we help our clients so that their website gets to their target group.
I come from a university focus, always did lecturers and workshops - and I started to do this as self-employed to. For acquisition that helps you to connect with people - but, it also helps you to explain your business, your focus, your way of thinking, your way of working in an understable way.
At the moment there semm to be a lot of "events" for starters. Maybe you find such "networking-events" in your area. It might be interesting for you to connect with people in your business: to be informed, to learn from them, to start cooperations. But more interesting concerning acquisitions are general business meetings - first for practicing (walking up to strangers and explaining what you are doing), connecting and maybe getting some new clients. Yet, the acquisition focus should never be your core motivation.
Just get going, the start is always a bit hard, but you will realise that it will get easier, smoother. There is usually a saying that to start a business it takes 2-3 years. |
