Default What should be in a contract?

Hi, I'm curently getting a website built with a freelance web developer. We've agreed on a price for the website build and he is now ready to begin coding.

We do not have a contract drawn up though. I'm just curious as to what it should include so we are both legally protected?

Thanks for the reply but I was looking for more of a response concerning the legal ownership of the code, confidentiality and security issues.

If you have concerns about ownership etc, you should create the contract and ask the developer to sign it.

If he's not happy he'll tell you. But it will also be a good way of getting to a situation where you both agree on what's deliverable.
