The best i could say is the new 3dsecure .
The transaction goes through the issuer bank and if approved the liability is switch to them instead yourself.

Problem with 3DSecure is it is only available for irish/uk credit card holders, AFAIK. What about other countries? A good measure is to check all orders, check what's been ordered, check the credit card being used and compare to delivery... the realex fraud score could help here. If it looks dodgy, send them a pdf with an order form that they need to sign with the CC details and fax back to you. Alot of new customers like this as it is an extra security measure and if they want to buy from you, they'll have no problem doing it. This helps with avoiding chargebacks as fraudsters usually avoid it.

Selling online is still a headache for the merchant (in terms of fraud) but 3DSecure is a good step forward.

3Dsecure is available worldwide not only IRL and UK.
The bigest problem is actually USA credit cards because they have a different law regarding charge-back, but that can be easily adjusted in the Realex system.

Are you sure? I remember a chat with one of the lads over in Realex about it back around March of this year and I thought it was only for credit cards issued in Ireland/UK (well, that's what I told my client at the time). I've to talk to them tomorrow so I'll double check and let you know.

If you talk to them tomorrow please let me know what they say, cause I was told it works everywhere in Europe (EU).
I already had some issues with them before and recently when adding 3dsecure so .... i love to hear the answer.

Out of curiosity is anyone using Google Checkout?

Seems to be catching on State-side.

everything catches everywhere but Ireland, didn't you notice that?
we are the last ones to get something.

We probably emit some bad vibe over the borders.
