    I'll second w3schools.com

In fact, in college, our "Web Design" module was made up completely of "Go to W3 Schools and learn everything in the XHTML section".

    cara.micheal,

Try this, it helped me in the beginning a lot. Learn HTML at the HTML Reference. With full descriptions, working examples, and browser compatibility information on the entire HTML language.

HTML is a language for describing web pages. HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is not a programming language, it is a markup language. A markup language is a set of markup tags. This tags uses markup tags to describe web pages. HTML markup tags are usually called HTML tags:-
    - HTML tags are keywords surrounded by angle brackets like <html>
    - HTML tags normally come in pairs like <b> and </b>
    - The first tag in a pair is the start tag, the second tag is the end tag
    - Start and end tags are also called opening tags and closing tags
For more information about HTML refer the following site..w3school, lynda..

    I know it's a bit early but I have pre-ordered this:
    A Book Apart, Home

    Might be worth a look.

Alistapart is an absolute "must subscribe" blog for web designers and was, I think, the first blog I ever subscribed to. Two quality posts per month.
