So true - I often say to people - you've probably got to invest a good bit of time talking to them and meeting with them.

I would guess, if I was asked, that I would base it on Meeting, listening, referrals, own rank, clients and pitch. If you start talking to 2 or 3 and they all sound the same: move on - the best ones will be clearly visible - they will stand out.
