Broadband speed test

Does anybody know where I could get an off-the-shelf connection speed test? Something along the lines of Irish ISP Test.

There are several companies offering software that will do it, but it will depend on your requirements

Well something simple that requires minimal (or no) root access to the server. If there was a simple Flash widget or something, that would be great. But a Java one a la IrishISPTest would be fine I suppose.

There's a couple of free ones out there that you can download. They're not as accurate as the Java based ones, but they're a hell of a lot cheaper

Cheers Blacknight. How much was the one on IrishISPTest? Don't suppose you'd care to share a vendor link?

MySpeed Internet speed test software, broadband speed tester is the vendor.
The licence is quite expensive. I approached a Java developer on scriptlance to write a similar application at a fraction of the cost but the deal broke down in the 11th hour.
