Help Desk software

I'm looking for a free help desk software package for my site.

I'd like to be able to run trouble tickets and knowledgebase for the more regular problems.

Can anyone recommend anything.
It has to be able to run on a windows server with PHP5 and MySQL.

I know there are a few open source ones out there, but I've no idea if they are anyway reliable.

If it's for a business get kayako or similar - they don't cost much and pay for themselves very quickly

I have installed SupportPro SupportDesk but I'm having problems running it. Going to dump it and look at some others.

The only open source solution I've heard that works well is RT, but it's not a small bit of software

Freshbooks has a nifty support tool built in. I use it for billing but the added support functions are a real plus.

I currently run all my invoices and billing with Freshbooks. Its a fantastic tool.
I tried the support system with it and while its great for invoicing issues it's not that good for general support tickets and the like.

Bit of a dead thread, but may help someone else, osTicket:: Open Source Support Ticket System (the new fork version, not the old, abandoned system) is really very very (surprisingly) good!

I am trying to install it on a live site at the mo, and no hassle so far with template, security or modification

Im 18!

I drink / work /socialise during the hours of 12pm to 12am, then that leaves 4 hours blogging, rambling time and 8 hours sleep!!

Oh I wish it would last forever!

(PS my GF is away, so this is my major social outlet at the moment, scary isn't it?)

I have installed the osTicket software and it looks like its exactly what I was looking for.

Ah hopefully it will suit. I'm much slower at doing my own things than things I get paid for!!!

I use Zendesk. On-demand support tool, customer service and help desk for any company, large or small very simple and straight forward to set up, not free but USD$19 per agent per month is reasonable

No, we use it for our on internal purposes

I dont think they have a reseller program. You can have a look at their helpdesk at https://support.zendesk.com/home
