Too many colours being used especially on right hand side.

You've 3 navigation menus: top horizontal, with unconnected left and right hand sides. Should be max two, but ideally one. The navigation is inconsistent and categories poorly focussed.

Site search would be better in the top right corner.

The homepage main body text waffles in places and has low value content in parts (Welcome... etc). Decide on your 4 main target markets and address them with snappy content suitable for scanning by the eye as people scan this part as opposed to reading. Special offers, free etc are good draws in that space.

VIP Club page. I'm unlikely to sign up if you don't tell me what's in it for me as opposed to merely providing a form. Incentive reqd.

There are quite a few graphics which are scaled as opposed to properly resized. E.g. home parties displays at 320x260 but is actually 960x720. This slows the page loading. Make it the display size for that page.

The sections below Wines, Beers and Spirits on the left have inconsistent contents and treatments - some have subpages, some empty subpages, some empty directing back to learning centre. Make them consistent.

Blog isn't really a blog and could be regular pages.

To a large extent you need to go back to the drawing board and work towards a coherent and simplified site structure and consistency in the pages.

I think you're off to a good start and the site has a lot of potential. The youtube videos and beer making guides etc. are good but you could improve the site structure / navigation and re-write some of the content to keep it simple.

The homepage has an empty <title> tag.

The page title, logo, opening paragraph should immediately tell people what site they are on e.g. "TheOff.ie - Slainte specialist off licence, Galway".

Had a quick look and the colour scheme was a bit in your face. I also think the buttons are a bit dated. I would go for a cleaner look completely and as tricky_d said there are too many menu bars in your face.

I would go for a smaller font in the TheOff.ie image and a more descriptive image that tells people what the business focus is for people to understand the purpose of the website.

Personally I would strip it way back from all those images and make it much 'lighter' and simpler but thats just me.

Reminds me of the '98 - '99 websites Shanley ( ah that buttons ) . Totally agree with kieran - lighter and simpler would be better

Unfortunately this is how the guy want the site...he changed it from my simpler html links

Will be re-writing this, thanks for that.

Have taken this on board, thanks for that

As I mentioned above, out of my control :( He actually paid another designer 100-200 for the buttons on the right

anyways guys, thanks for the replies! In relation to content we are updating it daily but this site will infact be a great resource, I dont know if you have clicked on the 'Home Brew' link but its a very interesting read (if your into that sort of thing!

He paid for the buttons on the right? I find it hard to believe that. Photoshop and a google image search could get you something better in 5 minutes. I hate to be cruel here, but there are free css templates that look 10 times better than this. I would cease working with this developer immediately.

Otherwise, it could be a good idea for a site. Information on a particular off-licence combined with general info on drinks etc.

loads super slow, not seo friendly because of buttons, and when putting myself in the potential visitors shoes, i really am not interested in clicking through to any inner pages. i highly suggest checking out wordpress and using a template setup with text nav. I give you points for the site being clean, but the methods are from 1998.

Good name - terrible looking site. Get someone to build you a single good looking home page with clear navigation and nice rollovers (inactive links) and try to sell the concept and domain to one of the big off licence chains. Might be worth a few grand.
