Hi guys
I read that passing the W3C validator test would improve my position so i did this for my index page and even put up the little logo they gave me on the page to show google how good a boy i am.
I did this a month ago but it has made no difference at all to my listing.

case closed?

I'm not sure exactly what you were expecting ? but Valid code is Valid code.

Have you made proper use of h tags ? strong ? and so on ?

<title>, Meta keywords / descriptions ?

Adding the Validation button doesn't really do anything for a site it just makes it look really crappy when you find that adding that & to the site caused validation to break yet you're claiming its valid all the same.

In terms of going forward ... congrats on getting your site valid.

Making sure your websites code is valid won't help you get a better ranking on the search engines.

You need to do a lot more than that. Forbarit's suggestions are a good place to start!

I have found that the title is the most important thing that influences whats happening.
Not so sure on the description.
I read everywhere that meta keywords are a waste of time as google ignores them.
I try and get the title to match the description and also h1 and also the internal anchor links to the page in question.

Are you using the correct HTML elements for the structure of your site.
Do you use header elements, paragraphs and so on correctly.

I think so, if by that you mean that a h tag will have a key phrase and the following paragraph is about that topic.

thanks for the replies guys btw
