XHTML Transitional Vs Strict

Hi,

I have my pages validating correctly using the XHTML Transitional Standard...

What are the advantages of putting in the effort to validate under XHTML Strict?

For example - do any search engines take account of XHTML-Strict toward SEO or are there any other practical advantages to putting some time toward this rather than it just being the correct way to do things.
