Default AWStats - Secure?
Hi all,

I was checking my stats for my website yesterday and was checking referrers. One of them seemed to be coming from a "competitors" domain. Well, another web design company in Ireland so I decided to drill down and found they were looking at their stats and followed a link from their AWStats to my site. By tracing back, I got directly in to view their full stats.

So, if you have AWStats (or webalizer for that matter) on your domain, password protect the folder that it's in! You don't know who could be looking at it.

I couldn't post a link. That'd be just mean but I think the company in question uses this site so if you have AWStats and you use it... just check that no one can hack it easily (and by easy, I mean don't click on a link in AWStats and tell their stats program the location of yours).

Finding peoples online stats is like finding gold. I love coming across sites that have their stat link in the footer to see how much traffic they get and for what keywords.
