| Can of worms... When I was Web Designer in Ireland On Line about 9 years ago I had the only Mac. About 80 of the other staff used PCs and the IT dept used to hate the Macs. Back then it was either or, black and white. Last year I bumped into one of the old developers in Easons with his head stuck in a Mac magazine and confessed he has bought two Mac now. Things are definitely changing now... BTW - I dad several years ago at home. Actually, I still have them - they're just in the attic gathering dust. Beautiful machines and great UI but I switched to Windows about 3 years ago and am happy enough. I guess there is two way traffic but I would never NOT recommend a Mac.

As long as you keep a windows mc for testing then why not ... |

| Or you could use Parallels or Boot Camp to test windows-related things. |

| I work on a Mac, have done for the last 10 years or so. I always keep a PC handy for web testing (and running those programs that developers just refuse to code for OS X as well However, if there's one downside, I would say that Apple's standards of production have slipped since they got 'cool'. Battery problems, overheating problems etc... They just seem to be churning them out faster than they can test them. But still, I'd never use a Windows machine for day-to-day stuff. Just too damn frustrating Oh, and by the way, when you start-up a Mac, it starts in 15 secs. In 1 year it will still start in 15 secs. Try that on a PC. |

| I would almost consider getting a Mac laptop... Persuade me

| Go on. They're shiny, silver and slim. What's there to consider |

| Has anyone tried Bootcamp or Parallels on the Mac? Buddy of mine has XP running on his MacBook and says it's blistering fast. He's a serious techy and is very happy with the whole setup. |

| <off topic> My father used to have an old macintosh like the one below. IIRC it had something like 2MB of RAM! Anyhow it eventually died but I still managed to sell it to a guy from usenet who was going to make a fishtank out of it! ![]() It was great at the time and Id be inclined to get one now! |
