Can someone care to explain it? And how it works?

I am just wondering is there any resource out there that tells how and what a browser loads in first or is it literally whatever pieces of code is read first get rendered first

As far as im aware, when the query is made to the server it renders the data returned from top to bottom in the browser!

if the page is designed in tables it will load the tables as they are presented in the code. Only when every element is loaded in a table will it show content (a big reason to design without tables)

Thats what I figured - I was just more concerned that certain elements are loaded in first - like any scripting, etc

Yeah, this can be verified because if you try to access part of the DOM under the script tag before the page loads it will error.

Also - different browsers render differently - IE for example - reads HTML line by line, and tries to show it as fast as possible.

So, if you make your site in One single line of HTML - you'll get a long load time, and the page will appear instantly - where as if you have lots of lines it will appear gradually - at least - that was true for IE 5

I haven't tried this in newer versions.
