Default Adapting a flash template

Hi all,

A mate of mine got in touch with me last week. He's setting up a company with his brother to do music production for radio and TV. Obviously they want a website and since I'm that "it guy" he knows, he gave me a call. He wants to adapt this template: Flash Template # 13255 by Delta Now I know, templatemonster == bad news but he doesn't have the budget to pay for what I'd call a professional site. He wants me to adapt what's in the template to their needs. Problem is that I have no idea of the work involved. Anyone with Flash knowledge willing to guess?

I'm no Flash developer (some 4 years ago) so I may need to contract that out (small budget so not too sure). How much is Flash contract work on sites these days?

I know I'm being rather vague here but that's kind of where I am with this at the moment. Any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers,

It really depends on the person doing the job. You could probably get some guy who knows his way around Flash and maybe a little basic actionscript for next to nothing. However, if you're bargaining with an AS3 developer with Flex and/or remoting experience who knows OO actionscript inside-out... then it'll set you back up to 2k per day. I guess it just depends what you need done and to what level.

Thanks. I'll dig a bit deeper with it so and see what I can and can't do with it.

I second that. We are looking for someone with flex experience (I know... it's a bit too new) on a contract basis and their rates are pretty high. 500 a day is pretty much all we could offer, but again that depends on the amount of work done, experience etc.

When it comes to flash though, you should really spend the money getting someone who knows what they are doing.

Default template monster flash templates

Hi

my experience with this is varied, they can get delivered in a developer friendly way or not. they only way you find out is by purchasing.

I have purcashe some in the past and the code was completely un workable. I.E it was split into so many layers and none of the layer names made any sence and generally it all just about stuck together. Others have been fantasic and robust and completed correctly and will take edits easily.

Some are developed in flash 8 others flash 7 and others flash mx.
So the answer is you pay and then you find out. Hope this helps.

regards
Sean
