Question IP adresses, unique / shared

I'm just wondering does anyone know if there is any known advantage to having an unique IP address for your site ? Goes the SEs think any less of a site on a shared IP address ?

As far as I can see with hosting365, it costs about €40 a year to have an extra one. Is it worth it ?

I personally don't believe there is any big advantage on having one.

I don't think its worth the hassle either unless you're doing serious spamming. Dave Naylor claimed he once got a whole C class of IPs banned from Google which if is all IPs from 84.51.236.1 to 84.51.236.255 if google has given me the correct answer.

Most of my personal sites live on one or two IPs and don't seem to be affected.
