 Can it be a disadvantage to host in Ireland? I have a site that is aimed at an international audience. I am hosted with an irish ISP. I read all the time about how if you want to gain irish visitors it is important to host in Ireland. However if I am more interested in US etc visitors, is there a disadvantage to hosting in ireland? Should I move this particular site to a US host to get better traffic and search engine rankings?         |

| Not necessarily. But if you believe that the majority of your audience is US based then you should probably host within that country but having a .com address instead of a regional tld such as .ie should aid your ranking if you're targeting a more international audience. Do you know for a fact that your audience is US based? |

| No not really, the site has only just begun but this is where my visitors are coming form so far. I probably account for a large around of the irish visits myself. I will have to wait a while to get a better idea, but I was just wondering would it afect my seo when searching from google.com is the US etc |

| The bulk of visitors to my blog are from the US and I'm not targetting them in any way

| If you are hosting in Ireland but using a .com TLD you're fine. In fact, you will find it a lot easier to rank in google.ie if you eventually decide to target Ireland. |
