Thread: Tags! Are they goo to have on a site?

I quite like the little mod where you have Tags for each content item and they can be added straight from the main page automatically.

I'm currently looking at ways to improve SEO and also usability, and I reckon this might be a nice little addition to my site.

What do you think - is it a good idea or is it just a gimmick?

Considering there are tags on here and you don't use them .......

True I have not really used them here but then again the search works perfectly fine and this message board is well organised. I'm more talking about tagging your own content on a website, how it can aid usability and hopefully improve seo.

Anyway I've added tags to my site - let me know what you think.

I just found this video which gives some interesting info, even if it is a old.

Tags are worthwhile because they're a decent indication of a website's keyword density and gives the user an idea of the site's content.

I suppose tags can be useful, used right.

On a different note, is it a good idea to allow the public to add tags? Someone could, for instance add "slippery eel" or something vulgar to a post.
