I was hoping that there was someone closer to home.. Much as I may not mind dealing with developers / designers via email etc., it is handy to have someone local

What sort of changes are you looking for, majour redesign or style tweaks?

It was more a "does such a service exist" type of question, as there are so many forums etc., but not that many designers capable of doing nice designs from what I've seen. A lot of the vb template designs I've seen are horrendous graphic heavy monstrosities

I'd say there's lots of designers who do this sort of thing (I think I remember looking at such a designers site the other day, though perhaps it was blogs which he specialises in, but he wasn't local).
