Hi guys,
I run a site which has six contributors, but we never have a chance to chat online due to other commitments etc..

Email is ok for communication but it has its limits.

I'm looking for a group collaboration solution which allows us to login, post messages on a message board of sorts, exchange files, receive email alerts etc..

Project collaboration, management, and task software: Basecamp looks nice but I'm open to suggestions on alternatives.

SourceForge.net: Ubraa and SourceForge.net: CURE are two Open-Source projects which I'm going to take a look at myself

my magazine Irish Music | Music Magazine - Drop-D. has 14 journalists around the country. We use phpbb2 to host private forums where we actively meet and discuss how the ezine runs, worked fine for us for last few years.

seeing as we all love google.... google docs could help you with some of this, and using email threads could help for discussion and threads if everyone has a gmail a/c.
