I'd seriously doubt if there was anything illegal in the slightest in what you've done. Forum admin's can block spammers, people can block others from msn and hotmail..etc.. so there's nothing wrong with blocking people you don't like from your site.

...if I was in a similar situation I'd have done the same

If I were you I would save all communications related to this matter and treat him exactly as he does to you.
You are entitle to block unwanted visitors from a website for any particular reason so... why not?
