Default Best fix is not to use a .png 24bit image

Yeah I played around with PNGFIX's but didn't have too much luck. Being stuck on Vista didn't help as I couldn't test IE6 easily.

In the end I opted to avoid PNG with 24bit Alpha transparency and went for standard PNG 8 - BIT I think.

I did some reading and it appears a small percentage of users will crash with a PNG FIX. Given that IE6 holds a large market share in Ireland still. I'd say its probably not the best idea to use a PNG fix if you can avoid it.

Cheers,
Gavin.

This is by far the best:

IE PNG Fix - TwinHelix

It gives almost full support for transparent png's on IE6 (apart from a couple of small limitation) and easy to install too.

Dave,

Thanks for you help. I have tried to set this up but when I check the images on IE6 the issue is still occuring.

Maybe I missed something. All I do is place the blank.gif and iepngfix.htc in a folder and tag images like such in the stylesheet:

* { behavior: url(iepngfix.htc); }

Have I missed something?

I am running IE6 on my local machine using a product called multiple IE which allows me to run different instances of IE on the same machine. The website is also running locally.

make sure you've got the latest version of it installed .. as you might just find its actually fine

(there is a registry entry that isn't set by the earlier version of that which causes pngs to display incorrectly even though you're applying hacks)
