Is there particular theme / framework that you prefer over any of the others?

Avada - hands down the greatest theme of all time IMO
I haven't use the Genesis Framework in a while, but it did have potential the last time I looked.

I tend to stick to premium themes/frameworks nowadays, they are 'usual' more secure.
