Hi guys,
I havent made a website before, but used phpbb3 to make this forum. I'm fairly happy with it so far, and have about 74 members since about 1 or 2 weeks ago when I made it. I know the site name is a bit long, and was thinking on shortening it (FAG.com doesnt really work though)

www.filmandgamecomposers.com

Ya it is fairly easy once you have not installed any mods on your forum or changed your database much.

Generally, follow the instructions step by step and you will be fine.

I am not away of phpbb3 portals though. There is one irish developed one, can't remember the name of it now.

hmm i do have a few mods installed. I think that I might backup the whole thing and give it a go, and if it doesnt work, I'll get rid of the mods and try it again. thanks for the advice :)

also - phpbb portal say its for use with phpbb olympus - I presume that it will just work with a normal phpbb3 board?

what does it allow you to do anyway? I see on your board you have like a calender, and link to other parts of the website on the left - is it basically that it allow you to build a website and stick the forum into it?

cool thanks. and does it use your current style, or do you have to reinstall your style once you've installed the portal, or do you have to use a "portal-specific" mod once its installed?

It will usually adapt your current template. However if it comes with its own templates in the template folder, it might have a different default.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

Just noticed your post on the forums - will reply in a few hours time when I get a chance to look at it :)

Glad to have you on board - I'm constantly updating the site, and theres always new stuff, and new ideas coming along on it, so its great fun to have it there

Absolutely - I'm hopeless at most things web based, so if its easy for me to do it, its easy for anyone. The author usually responds to emails within a day or two aswell, so if you have any issues, or don't know how to do something, or want to modify something, he will usually email you back a quick set of instruction on how to do it.

I wanted to change the category names, and the background colour and some other stuff - didnt have a clue how, but he sent me on exact instructions of which line of the code to change etc. Now that I've used it a bit more, I can definitively tell you its really easy to use - comes with an pdf booklet to show you how to install it, modify it, post on it etc. :)

Good stuff, I was looking at the white version my self for my website upgrade.

Have you tried or interested to integrate your forum with the blog? There are hacks that can do that, e.g. when people post a comment on a news/ reviews, it is posted in the forum and then people can respond?

Yea I havent tried doing that. I know someone asked about it, but I havent tried it. I just have a community link on the site. I know your forums are phpbb - I was looking into having a 'recently posted on the foruums sidebar' which allows you to have a small widget on the right hand side with the last 5 posted topics. However, I haven't tried it the way you have said - I'm sure theres probably some way to do that, but I don't know how that would work

Quick glance, I like the site, i would join if it was my interest field.

Perhaps a sorter domain, why not get FilmAndGame.com or something similar, like a magazine name... then tagline includes Composer
