Hi all, ]

I am looking for a piece of directory/link manager asp.net 1.1 or 2.0 code that can be used to handle web links and directory's?

I have been looking for it for a good while but have not come up with anything. So thinking now I might have a go off php, something similar to search.ie maybe.

Any recommendations for me?

Directory Software

Hello Amateur,

I've created a Category and Link index application if you're interested, written in ASP rather than PHP or ASP.NET it runs with MS Access or SQL Server.

You can view the basic version Codefixer LinksPro - Directory and Link management software

Below are just some of the new features which the full version will incorporate when it's released in a couple of weeks.

Dedicated business mode switch, turns directory from links/search engine to business directory
- Logo upload, web image location, automated thumbnail provision - from two differing providers including thumbshots
- Custom content per link/item details page, allowing a site owner to create custom content on a per business basis
- Google Analytics Tracking
- Supports Google Adsense
- Google Maps
- SiteWord - allows you to globally change the audience and type of site you are running, from Links, Businesses, Restaurants. Specify via admin and will be copied over the entire site
- Payment Mode Switch - So site owners can switch from standard one off payments via automated gateways such as paypal and nochex, to also allow recurring and manual billing

There's a whole host of other features and it's SEO friendly.

thanks,
Michael.

Cheers Michael, will take a look at that. My preference is though for a .NET option or an open source PHP/MySQL combination?

There are quite a few open source / commercial / semi-commercial solutions out there.

I've used quite a few of them over the years :)

What kind of functionality do you need?

I've used loads of different perl / php scripts and am currently playing with a beta release of CodeFixer's script

The question always comes back to the same thing - what do you need it to do?

Do you need to be able to list the same site in multiple categories? If so, does it matter how many?

Do you need paid options?

SEO friendly is a given at this stage

Most of the mature scripts offer some version of mod_rewrite support, though you still will come across some that insist on using "lovely" query IDs etc.,
