Blacknight VPS - connect remotely to mySQL db ?

Hi,

Just wondering if this is possible, or will i encounter issues with Firewalls etc ?

I can change the config of mysql but it's pointless if the Blacknight firewall blocks remote access.

The firewall won't block you - all you probably need to do is just change MySQL to allow connections from external IPs

You don't - if it's a vps you can allow MySQL to accept connections from any IP - probably not advisable ... but doable

Sorry to drag up, but you really shouldn't be exposing your MySQL to the real world. Use SSH to login, or use an SSH tunnel if you need to run a client/program remotely. An exposed MySQL server is just too tempting if found on a port scanner!
