Can Wordpress have both static and blog pages in the same install?

I want to create a site that has some static content and some blog-like page (where users can post comments) Can Wordpress offer both static and blog pages on a single install?

Yes, they're called "pages" (surprise surprise?) in wordpress.

You can actually create a whole site with wordpress that is a standard site if need be.......... plus add on a blog when you want.......

Yes, yes you can. Mind you I've never tried to switch off the blog functionality. Why not have a blog from the start?

Mind you the WYSIWYG editor can drive you mad sometimes!
